Prue’s story of confidence, independence and belonging
On 3 December, we recognise International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)
12 December 2025
Our commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported means inclusion is something we live every day. Through our partnership with Jobsupport, we provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, including @Prudence Lelean who works in our @Melbourne office and @Katelyn Day in our Sydney office.
Here we share Prue's story of confidence, independence and belonging.
In her own words
My job is all about keeping things running smoothly. Each day I make sure the kitchens are tidy and stocked with coffee, tea and spreads. I check the dishwashers, do a stocktake of water and drinks, and make sure the printers have paper and toner. I also turn on the TV and put out the newspaper first thing in the morning.
What I enjoy most about working here is the people. Everyone is friendly, supportive and understanding. They make me feel part of everything. My teammates are bubbly, accepting and easy to talk to. They make me feel safe and trusted.
Since starting this job, I’ve learned new things and travelling independently on the train. I’m proud of how far I’ve come – even having my name shared across Knight Frank offices worldwide when I was celebrated for my achievements. That was a big moment for me. Working here has boosted my confidence and brought me out of my shell. I’ve gone from being quiet to stepping up more.
I want people to know that I’m capable of learning new things and taking on new challenges. If you have a disability and you’re thinking about work, I’d say give it a go. Don’t be shy.
Speaking about my disability used to be hard because you don’t know how people will take it. Now it’s easier. I speak the truth about why I have a disability, and I want others to know I’m okay and proud of who I am. I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me – just treat me like everyone else.
What I hope people take from my story is an understanding of what I go through, and maybe it helps someone else who has a hidden disability feel confident, too.
What others say about Prue
These roles make a real difference, not only to the individuals and their families but to our workplace culture.
“Prue joined our Melbourne team in 2022 through our Jobsupport partnership and has become an essential part of the office. Her tasks might seem small, but they make a big difference. She takes pride in her role, is always willing to help, and her growing confidence makes us proud.” – @Jessica Flint, Office Manager & EA to Partner, MD VIC & Head of Institutional Sales, VIC (Prue’s Manager).
“Prue is the glue that keeps things running – she takes care of tasks that might otherwise be missed, freeing up time for others and helping the office run smoothly. My job is to support her ongoing success and independence, and seeing the confidence it brings to Prue and her family is incredibly rewarding.” – Aaron Fiddes, Jobsupport liaison.
