_Esperance’s Captain Huon Motel for sale
The property at 5 The Esplanade and 6 Dempster Street has 21 self-contained studio accommodation units with kitchen facilities, ocean-facing aspects and onsite parking on a combined 3,776sq m site situated opposite the Esperance foreshore.
5 The Esplanade has a two-level brick and tile motel block comprising 10 motel units with kitchenettes, as well as a separate building known as Huon House, incorporating the managers residence, dining room and reception, with five motel bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper level.
6 Dempster Street has a single-level motel block comprising six motel units each with two bedrooms and bathrooms and a kitchen.
The Captain Huon Motel business and improvements, together with its huge land parcel, are being offered to the market via an Expressions of Interest campaign run by Knight Frank’s Tony Delich and Jonathan Wong on behalf of the local vendor Chakola Pty Ltd.
The coastal town of Esperance is located around 714 kilometres southeast of Perth, which is an eight-hour drive or short 1.5-hour flight.
The locality is renowned for its stunning beaches considered the whitest in Australia, crystal waters, unique wildlife and national parks like Cape Le Grande, nearby Fitzgerald River National Park and the scenic Great Ocean Road with its unrivalled scenery.
Mr Wong said the Captain Houn Motel benefitted from a highly accessible seaside location and appealed to both short‑stay visitors and longer‑term accommodation demand.
“The property offers investors and motel operators an inherent flexibility for the continuation of short-stay accommodation use with proven occupancy and income, along with the potential for redevelopment, to capitalise on the unobstructed coastal outlook across the Esperance foreshore,” he said.
“The motel has huge frontage of 42.5 metres to The Esplanade, commanding a highly visible position along the road, opposite the Esperance foreshore and harbour, and offers an opportunity to create a first-class waterfront project in the future.”
Under the Shire of Esperance Local Planning Scheme No 24 the property is zoned Residential R40/R60.
Mr Delich said: “The combination of a prime foreshore position, substantial underlying landholding and the limited availability of comparable sites within central Esperance underpins the asset’s long‑term strategic appeal and scarcity value.
“The location is well serviced by public transport, local shopping facilities, parklands and beaches,
reinforcing its appeal as a lifestyle and tourism destination.”
The Expressions of Interest campaign for the property will close at 3pm (AWST) on Wednesday, June 24.
