Alex Meneghello, Senior Property Manager in Perth shares why he decided to take parental leave and the benefits it's had on his family.

“I’m taking six months parental leave to care for my 10-month-old daughter, Margot while my wife, Fiona returns to work full time as Business Improvement Manager at Kleenheat (Wesfarmers)."

"Fiona is passionate about her career and was promoted while on maternity leave so was keen to go back to work."

"I'm taking six months parental leave to care for my 10-month-old daughter, Margot while my wife, Fiona returns to work full time as Business Improvement Manager at Kleenheat (Wesfarmers)."

"Fiona is passionate about her career and was promoted while on maternity leave so was keen to go back to work."

"We didn’t want to put Margot into childcare just yet, so me being able to take the parental leave is the perfect solution for us all."

"Margot is our first child and previously, someone in my position would’ve only been able to take two weeks' leave to spend with their child in total, typically when they are newborn."

"There’s been a massive shift in the way Knight Frank treats parents more equally."

"As soon as we discovered we were pregnant, we looked at Knight Frank’s parental leave policy and realised I could take paid parental leave. I spoke to my manager after Margot was born and they couldn’t have been more supportive."

"I don’t think there’s much in the way of activities specifically for dads on parental leave – I guess I’ll find out."

"Margot does weekly swimming lessons and Fiona’s introduced me to the mums she’s met at Playgroup."

"My parents live nearby so we’ll hang out with them, and one of my friends is also going to taking parental leave soon too so us dads are looking forward to catching up."

"I will also reach out to a couple of Knight Frank mums currently on Parental Leave."

"I’m looking forward to getting to know Margot as an individual and watching her grow and develop. But it’s also about Fiona and supporting her in her career as well as what is best for us as a family."

"I’ll be coming into the office for some keeping in touch days while I’m on leave and look forward to catching up with my colleagues then.”
