_Brisbane Skytower notches up $20 million in sales in two months

Five of the most exclusive residences in the Queensland capital’s tallest building, the Brisbane’s Skytower, have sold over the past two months for a collective $20 million, demonstrating strong demand in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘The Horizon Collection’ consists of 42 two and three-bedroom luxury residences and five four-bedroom penthouse apartments on the seven uppermost floors of 90-storey Brisbane Skytower building.

Knight Frank’s Residential Project Marketing Director in Brisbane Jason March, who negotiated the recent deals after Knight Frank was appointed as the exclusive selling agent for The Horizon Collection last year, said buyer enquiry had noticeability increased since the start of the new financial year.

“We have seen strong enquiry over the past few months from both local and interstate buyers, as well as some from overseas. While some have been investors, we are mainly seeing owner-occupiers looking to rightsize – that is, downsizing to luxury apartment living.

“There has been renewed confidence in the market, with the luxury market particularly in demand as people look to buy lifestyle residences more locally in lieu of being able to travel around the world and in recognition of the fact that we are spending more time at home.

“We anticipate several more sales in the Brisbane Skytower’s ‘The Horizon Collection’ to complete over the next few months, with more buyers actively looking to buy and in the negotiation process now.”

Mr March said there was pent-up demand for the luxury residences in the development when it launched at the end of last year, with buyers waiting for more than three years for construction on levels 82 to 90 to be completed and the apartments to go on the market.

“When COVID-19 hit Brisbane we saw some hesitation in the market from buyers, but now there is greater certainty on where the pandemic is heading we have seen buyers re-emerge with renewed vigour.

“The opportunity to purchase something like the residences in ‘The Horizon Collection’ is very rare in Brisbane, and is becoming even more limited as sales take place and more apartments are snapped up.

“Brisbane is attractive as an up and coming city undergoing transformation, as well as its affordability in comparison to its southern counterparts and lifestyle, which has been emphasised during the various COVID-19 lockdowns.”

Brisbane Skytower, a residential tower developed by Billbergia and AMP Capital at 222 Margaret Street in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, was completed more than three years ago, with occupants of lower floors moving in while the top floors were still under construction.

The 90-storey residential tower is Brisbane’s tallest building and the sixth tallest building in Australia, with a height of 270 metres, and has the southern hemisphere’s highest infinity pool, which will be for the exclusive use of residents in The Horizon Collection.

Residences in The Horizon Collection are be priced from $1.2 million to $7.9 million.

Mr March said buyers of The Horizon Collection residences had been attracted to its unrivalled views offering a spectacular outlook of Brisbane and beyond, reaching out to Moreton Bay, Stradbroke Island, down to the Gold Coast and the Great Dividing Range, as well as the quality of the development and its exclusive amenities.

“The apartments feature the highest quality fittings and finishes, with luxury inclusions from high-end brands such as Villeroy & Boch, Gaggenau and Miele, as well as Grigio Argento marble or Carrara porcelain floors,” he said.

“As well as the infinity pool, residents in The Horizon Collection apartments will have exclusive access to private entertainment spaces and a comprehensively fitted gym, as well as the option to have lifestyle services provided by The Westin Hotel.”
