_Property of the week: Crown Residences at One Barangaroo
Conceived by the genius of design firm WilkinsonEyre, the ambitious vision for the Crown Sydney development has finally been lifted into the skies of Sydney, rising above the harbour and sitting pretty amid the dazzling skyline.
Home to a select few, Crown Residences at One Barangaroo will mark a new era of luxury living in Australia with unrivalled hotel services and luxurious amenities from Crown Resorts. Scheduled for completion in 2021, construction remains on track for opening in the first half of next year with its progress cemented by reaching the top of tower in March.

“The building has a very special relationship with the harbour and it’s extremely exciting for me to see the strong sculptural form taking its place in Sydney’s beautiful landscape,” said principal architect Chris Wilkinson of WilkinsonEyre when he came to Sydney to inspect the progress in person several months ago.
“For me, this has become a development that is entirely different from any other building in the world. This building would not have been possible ten years ago,” he reflected, referring to the signature glass curvature design now visible from almost anywhere in Sydney. In fact, there are some 7,000 unique panes of glass that make up the façade with majority set in place and already reflecting the beauty of Sydney harbour at any given time of day.
“We have pushed the boundaries of the latest technology to create something truly of its time and place.”

Recently, strands of decorative white marble have been added to form a veil around the podium’s exterior, another luxurious layer to the tower added by Wilkinson, who took inspiration from classical European gothic architecture.
“Observing how the building twists as it rises and knowing the intricacies that go into making this happen is wondrous. It means each of our floor plans vary on each level to suit the geometry and adjusted to maximise the potential of the views,” said Wilkinson, remarking on the individual floorplans of each residence that sets this architectural gem apart.

Due to the twisting nature of this design, each apartment is bestowed with a completely unique configuration, all framing dual or triple aspects of Sydney’s famed icons, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, whether it be a two-bed on the southside to the penthouse atop.
This commitment to extracting the beauty and essence of Sydney, and distilling it into the 82 exceptional spaces that will occupy One Barangaroo, is mirrored in the pursuit that saw Chris and integral members of the Crown Resorts team, including Todd Nisbet, traverse the corners of the world in search of the finest quality materials for the project.
“Seeing the materials we selected, such as marble from Carrara, Italy, being installed for the veil, and furthermore witnessing our external and internal renders transform into real life spaces and Residences is simply incredible,” said Wilkinson.

The fruits of this quest are shown throughout all throughout the residences. There are stony odes to Carrarra, Italy in the way of Mont Blanc Natural Quartzite and Belvedere in the living room and as the kitchen feature stone, as well as Calcatta Cielo in the powder room vanity, and White Pearl in the corridor feature floor.
A little piece of Thessaloniki, Greece features via Volakas in the master bathroom walls, Aliveri in the secondary bathroom floor and vanity and Elba Blue in the secondary bathroom walls.
While in the master bathroom floor and vanities, stunning Noir St Laurent from Xiamen in southeast China does its part to sing a song of luxury, as do the custom light fixtures the result of a trip to Prague and Czechia’s Crystal Valley. All the while staying true to the interior palette envisaged by project interior designers Meyer Davis Studios’ Will Meyer and Chris Gray.

“For our purchasers who have already bought with us and those we continue to meet, seeing the realisation of Chris’ vision come to be and reach such construction milestones like topping out, the pontoon wharf or installation of the sky sign fills them with great confidence and excitement to call Crown Residences home,” said Erin van Tuil, Knight Frank Partner and Head of Sales and Marketing for the project.
“It is the coming together of timeless design and service on a level never before seen in Australia in a location as iconic as this that makes this once-in-a-lifetime project so special.
“They cannot wait to move in and in 12 months from now, they’ll get the keys.”
